As a life-long outdoorsman, both recreationally and professionally, I have long revered the author of the definitive guide to fishing: The Complete Angler. The English author gave impetus to the great outdoors movement long before it was a thing, and is the source behind every sign you encounter that says “Gone Fishin!” (Though the original quote was “I have laid aside business, and gone a-fishing.”)

I’ve also had the pleasure to know, and work with, 2 past CEOs of the Izaak Walton League, who where both huge advocates of environmental conservation and wildlife management on both public and private lands across the US.

James A Nelson Memorial Park

“Jimmy” Nelson, 40, of Clark, New Jersey, a 16-year veteran of the Port Authority Police Department was killed in the line of duty while rescuing others at the World Trade Center disaster. Jimmy was called to the scene shortly after 9 a.m. on September 11 from the Port Authority Police Academy in Jersey City. He was married and the father of two beautiful girls.
