What do you do when snow obscures both park signs and you can’t get to them to brush them off? The is Damrosch Park on W 62nd St at Lincoln Center, Manhattan.

Don’t drink the water! :-) You have a lot of parks around you there. What’s the average distance you have to ride to reach them? What is the traffic like doing so? In general, how do drivers interact with you on the road?

Hey! Kbikeva. There are ALOT of parks here, the Spanish believe in going out doors as much as possible. Some parks are only a few yards from one another. A lot of the traffic is no different than riding in Arlington and when I go into Madrid it’s like going into DC. One major difference is the way the cars stop for pedestrians and keep their distance from bikes! It was a shocker and a pleasant one…trucks and buses on the other hand are not as nice…and double or triple parking is the norm!

A new park in the area of Herndon just west of Centreville Rd and as far north as you can go before you hit the Dulles Toll Road. The playground is a work of public art itself. They never had beautiful stuff like that when I was a kid! Splinters on the see-saw, iron monkey bars, and HOT slides!

A nice little park in Herndon off Van Buren Street in the area which, once the Metro Phase II opens, and traffic returns to normal patterns (Please God, don’t let it do that) will become even more dangerous than it is now. Marked 25mph, this little two lane stretch which is a cutover to the W&OD, seems to be a magnet for impatient drivers. Unfortunately, there’s no real wormhole through the park that might help one avoid some of the trauma. So … if you’re doing to ride along this stretch, put your big kid panties on and TAKE THE LANE! :-0

Viers Mill in Rock Creek Park. Sadly, the MoCo parks have apparently not returned porta-potties to their parks so this was a very quick stop and photo and ride!

A park which I find is worthy sharing here (most of them aren’t). I like the sign and flowers/bushes (whatever they are). I even made sure to get the bike in the flowers.
