ParticipantI miss seeing all the parkfinder posts here. I know it’s only real if it’s on Strava, but it’s nice to come here to see the collection too.
My riding partner and I went from Trailside Park in Herndon (her photo) to Trailside Park in Ashburn (my photo) and got in some Trail Patrol miles along the way. When we got out to Belmont Ridge Rd. W&OD Trailhead, I took a photo of the finished bike parking created as an Eagle project by a local Boy Scout. Reston Bike Club provided the funds for him to execute it.

I usually just post my more interesting ones here. A lot of the time, it’s just a random park sign and not much of a story.

ParticipantMy bike leaning against St Asaph Park, in Del Ray hood of Alexandria VA (continuing with my BAFS2021 theme of new2me parks)
But who was St Asaph?
Jocelyn of Furness’s “Life of St. Kentigern,” tells the following story of Cyndeyrn (Kentigern)…
“Kentigern would frequently pray standing in the icy cold river. On one occasion, having suffered very severely under this hardship, he sent the boy, Asaph, who was then attending him, to bring a brand of blazing wood to burn and warm him. Asaph instead brought him live coals in his apron, and the miracle revealed to Kentigern the sanctity of his disciple. So when the old man was recalled to Strathclyde, after the Battle of Arfderydd, in 573 Asaph was consecrated bishop to succeed him, and became the first Welsh bishop of the see.”
Seemed only appropriate to visit St Asaph on a chilly [emoji3063] snowy [emoji3587] morning!
