Back to the richly fertile litter landscape of my “Swisher Sweet Street” for 2 bags around Mt Vernon Ave underpass and west.
Then I spotted the vast billowing bright green “spill” into 4MR stream and phoned it in to Water/Sewer Dept. who said they’d investigate…
Managed a waving shadow selfie in this pic, against the fencing behind…

Ah, I thought that might be you. I called thanks, but not sure if you heard.

ParticipantSo Lordofthemark is not being totally truthful! After Kitty’s farewell party I caught him in the act of removing a scooter from the Rt 50 trail on his way home!!!

ParticipantA new trash stretch for me today — and it called for the RBQPB — the Really Big Quick Pick Bag!
The steep, bushy uphill slope alongside the ramp up from MVT to 14th Street Bridge.
I had tak —er, borrowed— a large kitchen bin liner from the office a few days back, keeping it along with grocery bags in my pannier — for just such a situation.Alas, the bag was not nearly big enough (nor strong enough) to get all the trash there, but I got lots of the biggest junk (huge swaths of plastic sheeting) and more than a lot of smaller stuff…

Then on the ride home, a Lumberjacking opportunity; a scooter prominently occupying the bike lane on S. Potomac Avenue, shortly before crossing 4MR stream.

ParticipantOn our way home this lovely evening, M and I took advantage of what the wind gathered at the “under Franklin” exit on the MBT to fill a couple of supplied bags with trash for the nearby receptacle.

It was long past time for this rusty old bollard to go, so it got pushed over.

It’s at the top of the path from the Marine Memorial. I was not strong enough to push it off the path, and I was a little nervous leaving just the pointy shards there for someone to flat on, but the authorities have been notified.

Mr. Happy gets two points for Lumberjacking a bollard and one point for reporting a trail hazard. An additional point has been awarded for giving Steve O plausible deniability. Four points!

During my evening ride to REI (because I’m an idiot and thought the member bonus card I got from a previous visit expired today, not tomorrow): a pair of Birds was discarded near the bottom of the ramp to M Street on the MBT, blocking one side of the trail. It would’ve been an unwelcome surprise to someone taking the turn onto the ramp at speed in an attempt to get up the incline with some retained momentum.

Using Lumberjacking skills displayed by many in this thread (as originated by the prize sponsor)*, I moved the scooters around the corner to be with a Lime friend by the MBT meeting point.

*Such is the legend
Chris M gets two points for removing two scooters blocking the trail. An additional point has been awarded for “flipping the Bird”. 3 points!

More TL/TV with QPB!
Tonight was my first Quick Pick of March, along the usual stretch, managing 2 bags. A pedestrian said “Thanks so much!” which was nice! (And 3 cyclists asked “everything ok?” as they slowed… all in all a friendly night!) Added to the Trash Virtual Wardrobe; 1 hair net and 1 sock.
(Doh! I missed that trash under the bench when I stopped at the trashcan… grrr!)Chris B gets two points for a solo act of trail goodness. One additional point for being a Bob Cannon doppleganger enough for three people to ask if he was ok. 3 points!

As we got close to home tonight, I saw in the distance a Jump bike strewn across the MBT, blocking one side entirely. The cyclist just ahead of me stopped to try to move it over, and though he was eager, he was inexperienced in the maneuver (he tried to stand up the Jump bike while still astride his ride, almost causing both to tumble to the ground as he was not expecting the weight of the front wheel/motor).

I stopped, and while M manned our bike, I helped move the Jump bike to the side of the trail.

As the gentleman went on his way, I snapped a quick picture of the rear of the bike (with the number) to report its status to Jump so it could be retrieved if necessary.
Chris M gets two points for clearining a trail obstruction and one point for calling in a free docked Jump. One additional point is awarded for being a good role model to the yoot. Four points!

ParticipantMore superquick wind and #kidical aided cleanup at the MBT/8th/Franklin connection. (M didn’t have the patience for the after picture – though there wasn’t too much more this morning as can be seen.) Also found some rusty nails in our favorite cycletrack in NoMa that would’ve ruined someone’s day.

A double whammy today (after yoga stretch and tasty bites at 4MR Farmers Market!) with a Lumberjacking near the airport on MVT, and then 2 bags of trash along 4MR… at a new stretch for me, near the eastern end of water treatment plant, as I spotted a child’s ball down on the mud-flat/shoreline, and decided to fill my bags there. Much styrofoam and water bottles… and maybe a soccer ball lost by Mr. Happy or his friends? (Shown sitting on my saddle.)

Chris B gets two points for relocating a scooter off the MVT. Two more points for a solo act of trail goodness. An additional point has been awarded for recovering Mr. Happy’s soccer ball. 5 points!

Oooh! I realized that I tapped a new category for me, for points last night, by attending the Alexandria BPAC meeting with Judd, SteveO, LOTM and Josephine…!

Riding in on the Custis this morning, just before Glebe Road, I spotted this plastic bag on the trail
Inspired by the work of others on this thread, I took five minutes to grab some litter that had collected alongside the trail nearby.
I then put the trash-filled bag in my pannier
And deposited it in a nearby trash receptacle
Steve O gets two points for a solo act of trail goodness. One bonus point for filling an entire freaking pannier. 3 points!
