And I assume, for those of us who need to be day of but still want to support WABA, we could either give some $$ there or just make a contribution online correct?

On this ride series, spaces are capped and there may be an occasion when a walk-up would be turned away. (Tomorrow seems like there should be plenty of space, so don’t sweat it)

The point of the ride isn’t to make money. The 10 dollar fee also deters people from just signing up well in advance and deciding not to come. We’ve found that a small fee makes people feel like they have some skin in the game.

Thanks for the explanation. The fee schedule makes sense now. This one looks like fun.

I’m glad this forum has an “undislike” feature since I don’t like giving dislikes because I like to be a positive person. But in fairness to me, someone was talking poorly about Lost Dog. “This aggression will not stand!”

There really is plenty of room out there for all kinds of pizza. Pupatella is good, but Lost Dog just happens to have the best variety.

Also, bicycles are fun to ride to pizza, but harder to ride back home.

Also, if you are carrying pizza on your bike, be sure to keep it flat, which can be tricky if you don’t have the right kind of rack or crate or something attached.

Thanks for the undislike. I don’t not like you too!

I will not derail this thread any further with my opinions on ranking local pizza places. I find it interesting that several posters consider Lost Dog the best of the three because they have the greatest variety. By that logic, Magna and Huffy are better bikes than the high-falutin’ brands many of us ride, due to their wider model range.

Interesting discussion on the pizza. I think I like Pupatella better than Italian Store but both are tasty. Lost Dog is okay but I think a little overrated. My wife dislikes Pupatella so I rarely eat there. We usually end up getting Santini’s (which is local to us), or just Domino’s in a pinch.

Okay, to make this bike related – I have often wanted to figure out a way of carrying pizza home, since I usually pick it up by car. I’m thinking a simple front rack with bungee cords. Keeping it flat may be difficult with the hills around where I live though.

    Depends…which one is your favorite?

You’re not riding to both, what’s the fun in that? I’ll also be a last minute decision maker since I am wait listed for a Wednesday evening ride.

Ah… *which* Italian store location? I couldn’t ride this event since I had to pick up Sue from work, did so, and drove in from there. We flipped a coin (no, actually more of a rational guess) and went to Westover. got there at 7:50pm, and noticed a conspicuous lack of the crew I passed by at Clarendon earlier. No loss… your friendly PAL Ambassador Annmarie was next door at Westover Beer Garden for her Mom’s band gig, and we said hi. She says “hi” too. And we ate well anyway…

Thanks again to WABA and BikeArlington for a fun ride to Pupatella and the Spout Run Italian Store.

Speaking of people playing at Westover Beer Garden, I’ll be appearing there on 5/18 and 6/18 with Bob Sheppard, and 8/26 with The Shawn Cody Band.

Oh, you lucky people! This is one of the series of Community Rides that WABA puts on in partnership with local partners like BikeArlington.
Turns out I am one of the WABA instructors assigned to this ride, so you’d better behave.

Not only do I get to ride my bike and eat some great pizza, but I GET PAID to do it. Sweeeeeeeettt!!!

This would be an excellent ride to invite your friends along who are not everyday riders or are curious about riding more.
