Team Bikenetic has joined the Phoenix Bikes Summer Sizzling Fundraiser challenge. On August 1st and 2nd – instead of the traditional sizzling WOD century – I will be riding with ⚛️ Team Bikenetic ⚛️ on socially distant rides – 🚵*♂* 🚴*♀* 🚴*♂* to raise 💵 for the incredibly amazing 🦜 Phoenix Bikes. Team Bikenetic’s fund raising page can be found here 👇. The Flamingos ride!

    From Phoenix:

This year’s Sizzling Summer Century ride will be a little different than normal, but that’s 2020! We’re changing our summer ride to make sure everyone stays safe and socially distant, but also that we re-connect this community through the joy of cycling. Your challenge this year is to come up with a ride that challenges you and to raise money to support the mission of Phoenix Bikes. You can ride the full 100 mile century on the Washington and Old Dominion Trail–our typical route–or you can make your neighborhood trails into a race course. Whether it’s the most mileage in the smallest area or the longest ride in a single day, we’ll be giving out amazing prizes to the individuals or teams with the most creative ride. This summer ride is also a peer-to-peer fundraier for Phoenix Bikes, and we encourage you to reach out to your friends and family to help fundraise. We’re also giving prizes to the most successful fundraisers! Last year, you raised over $27,000 total, so let’s try and top that this year. We can’t wait to get rolling!

Likewise me. I got a late start and had a misadventure trying to stand up my own race team, but still riding. Bonus- I wound up with #dirt’s favorite race number…again. I remain at https://www.pledgereg.com/3553/williamfuchs. Thank you!

Support for Phoenix has been FANTASTIC! There are just a few days left in this fundraiser. Find your favorite team and support them – and there is even time enuf for you to join.

Henry Dunbar is going to do 100 miles circling around his own neighborhood block because…. actually I have no idea…. check out his STRAVA. HE HAS ACTUALLY BEEN TRAINING THE ROUTE!!! ;)

On a British 3-speed he rescued from being junked! Somewhere on my own ride Saturday, I will take a lap or two with him.

He may be getting several visitors as he goes round and round and round. (I can’t resist round and round rides…)

That said, I won’t be doing a century due to doctor’s orders recovering from ankle surgery, but I’ll be doing some loopdy loos of my own at Hains Point on Saturday. The Hains Point 10. That’s my natural habitat where I raise funds, right?!? Albeit much much warmer this time.

If anyone wants to throw some coin my way, here’s my Raise & Ride page and Phoenix Bikes thanks you!!! https://www.pledgereg.com/3553/meganjones

My real motivation is I don’t want to get lost (Cue sheet: Go one block, turn Right. repeat 1,000 times).

Plus I’m a little CS the Rudge might break and want to be close to home. Maybe next year I’ll take it to Purcellville and back.

Seriously, I got the idea from local Ultra Runner Michael Wardian with this early pandemic stunt. And I’m going less than half what he did, plus I get to coast some. Piece of cake.

Here’s the rescue for those interested

P.S. Henry did the full distance without “relief bike”, despite the Sturmey-Archer hub not always wanting to keep the selected gear. BRAVO!!!

Got my laps in with him at both the beginning and end of my ride.
