There was a giant BBQ festival or something there yesterday, blocking PA Ave from 14th to 10th or so. Huge pain to find this out as I was trying to use the cycletracks pulling the kids in the trailer. I don’t mind taking Connecticut on my own, but with the trailer and stupid weekend drivers, it’s not much fun.

Not surprising, since they put the “traffic alert” sign up on Friday afternoon, right in the middle of the cycletrack. DDOT’s response essentially was “well, we’re closing the street anyway, so what does it matter?” Using that logic, they might as well have just put the sign in the middle of the road since, hey, you’re closing that road in 12 hours anyway. In reality, cycletracks and bike lanes aren’t spaces dedicated to cyclists…they are spaces “on loan” to cyclists at the municipalities’ convenience. It makes me sad.

Yeah, I always love when the temp signs relating to roadway work end up blocking bike lanes and sidewalks. 😡
