Not generally. I did have one person balk at the price, but this was after I ate a 90 minute tour for two people in which I only charged her $40. At the end of our time I told her the next ride would cost $30. She said okay, but then when that ride was over she only wanted to give me $10. In stead of arguing I told her I would be able to accept $50 but that she had gotten nearly 2 hours of my time that would normally run over $100. The only reason I comped her so much time up front was that it was the 4th of july and she wanted to see the white house, and unfortunately with the parade and the road closures I couldn’t get there.
Most people are so happy with the tour that they tip $10 to $20 on a $50 tour. Another nice version of this tour is the “sunset” tour. I troll along ohio drive after 7pm looking for recently parked individuals that are walking hand in hand along the side path. I ask them if they would like a sunset tour- a no-stop trip around the tidal basin for $20. People love this option, and if I time it right I can get 2 in with the monuments lit up before it gets really dark.
