    Judd,
That’s a great idea! Any idea when Mikes opens?

    Update:

Yesterday’s Friends of Mount Vernon Trail event got rained out and was rescheduled for Memorial Day morning. We will be removing the vegetation at the ramp to the 14th St Bridge which makes it impossible to see if someone is around the corner when entering or exiting the bridge. The event is from 9-11. Work up a hunger and then join me at Bob and Edith’s on 23rd St in Crystal City for some pancakes afterwards.

Here’s the new view coming off the 14th Street Bridge to the MVT. Big thanks to Steve O, Josephine and Ken for helping to clear a ton of invasive honeysuckle.

I was also able to trim the face smacker level branches on the ramp. We also got four bags of trash picked up.

We will likely come back to this spot in July to finish a few things we didn’t have time for today and remove any regrowth. Check https://MountVernonTrail.org/events for all upcoming volunteer opportunities.

Actually, there were lots more people than just those listed here.
Interesting side note: although we all went to Bob & Edith’s afterward, I believe I was the only one who actually ordered pancakes.

    We had 20 total volunteers.

I usually get the chocolate chip pancakes but I’m trying to switch things up more these days.

    👋

Monday was I think my second Friends event this year, but this is apparently the first time I’ve been on the Forum in fifteen months.
