Bummer. Sorry about the stitches. It’s always a good idea to sit for at least 10 minutes, then check yourself out thoroughly. Then check your bike out thoroughly.

Sorry to hear about your fall. Thanks for the tip about the trauma kits.

Likewise. So sorry to hear you are banged up but it sounds like you learned a valuable riding lesson. The school of hard knocks. Sigh. Thanks for the tip about the kiosks; I never would have thought of that.

Well, there’s plenty wrong with the design there, but it doesn’t sound like that contributed to your crash. Sorry that happened, but glad you’re ok. Thanks for the tip on the trauma kits.

Yeah, the design could be so much better if Mem Bridge was pedestrian only… as it is currently it requires careful checking to make sure no speeding cars come around faster than their sight-lines allow, which that particular area begs for.

The NPS kiosks have trauma kits, btw, in case anyone wipes out on the mall.

I did not know that. Thanks for the heads up!

Heal fast! Similar circumstance to my latest fall couple of months ago – rain just stopped but the road was still wet, bike slipped on a slippery spot on the road when I changed lanes too abruptly. Luckily for me, one of the three guys who immediately rushed to my aid had a wet wipe, and I was only a few blocks away from a Kaiser clinic, where I have insurance.

Since that crash I’ve been keeping my tire pressure on the lower end on days the roads are likely to be wet. This won’t totally account for operator errors on my part but that’s one less variable to worry about.
