ParticipantThanks Ann. I’ve been training for the past 6 months or so and now the race is less than 10 days away!
For anyone interested, my race number is 1154 and you can follow my progress at http://www.ironmanlive.com

ParticipantDoes the bike ride go past the Bike Arlington booth at the county fair? All joking aside, I’m sure everyone on the forum will be rooting for Tim.

Participanthttp://ironmanuschampionship.com/files/2010/09/USChampion_BikeElevation_20121.pdf Looks like a fun elevation chart–good luck!
Also laughed when I read athletes can’t practice in the Hudson or they’re dqed and can only ride on the Palisades Pkwy once a year during this time, truly testing folks.

Elevation isn’t as bad as it looks–it only maxes out around 600 feet and the scale is screwed up because the Y-axis isn’t nearly to the same scale as the X-axis. 4K climbing over 112 miles is like a long ride in Montgomery County.
And yeah, who would want to swim in the Hudson more than they have to!!

ParticipantThe riding and running have me impressed to no end with Tim’s fortitude. Its the “Swim 2.4 miles in the Hudson River” part that has me scratching my head about Tim’s soundness of mind.
Ha – should have let Tim finish his post.

Aren’t there movies about swimming with the fishes in the Hudson? Somehow, I think those folks swim in the Hudson a lot (like permanently
).

Remember Tim, “if you’re nose bleeds you’re picking it too much. Or not enough.”
Or it could be the Hudson.

They had a big rain storm pass through the lower Hudson Valley today — it’ll flush those clorinated poopies out of the way in no time I’m sure. http://www.wunderground.com/radar/radblast.asp?ID=OKX&type=N0R

oh shit! Good luck, Tim! I’d be pooped after that swim. Remember not to waste all your energy, you don’t want to flush your chance at winning.

Participant“But Department of Health spokeswoman Heather McGill on Thursday said the waters would likely be safe for the race”
Likely, likely?!
I hope your shots are up to date Tim.
Good luck and remember safety is number 1.
