ParticipantHope you feel better soon — we missed you at potluck last night. So you didn’t get a chance to retain your crown as riding the heaviest in the ceremonial New Year’s weighing of the bikes.
I won this time (tied with Johnny) at 37 pounds on our commuter bikes. Todd totally lost, with his great big road bike weighing in at 16.5 pounds!
Another interesting bit was that Ben brought in the 25 inch Proteus build from the 70s that he’s been cleaning up (and borrowing from) a friend.

ParticipantDid I say the booboo on my knee was the size of a quarter? More like a dime. I’d only peeked at it once when I wrote that and didn’t see it again until I pulled my pants off and climbed into bed. It was a hard day’s night, very painful. My rib clicks and pops when I move certain ways. I think it’s getting better. Hand feels much better. Swelling is down, not much bruising, I can put weight on it.

I’ve got my fair weather flyer back in service.I think it’s 29ish pounds. Orca, the killer whale, has lightened up with the rigid fork. Stiil I think I can beat 37 with rack and saddle bag with multi-tool, tube and patch kit. 😮

ParticipantLast night I experienced a huge improvement! I could roll over without screaming loud enough to wake the neighbors. In fact I could do it without screaming at all! So nice to sleep well! I’m now sure nothing was broken and I was just being a big wussy. 😮

ParticipantUgh, that sounds like a terrible way to start the year, hope you are feeling better by now. I actually fractured two ribs playing hockey years ago, the pain was so overwhelming at times that I finally went to the ER and they gave me some pain killers….. lucky me, turns out I was allergic to the meds and vomited for two days straight, and I thought coughing and breathing hurt!

ParticipantYeah banged up ribs are no fun. I had some late last year and it did take 4-6 weeks for the pain to fully subside. Coughing – and sneezing especially, are bad but the worst thing is when you get into a laughing fit! The wincing pain face you make while you laugh makes it funnier somehow to others around you making it even harder to stop laughing. At least in my case.

ParticipantAlthough I’d heard about the injury, I didn’t see this thread until just now. Glad you’re feeling better, Rod! Now stop chasing all the women around corners, that should keep you with all wheels firmly on the ground 😎
