ParticipantOrdered the Bar Mitts. My bike has the Di2 electronic shift levers, and sometimes it’s hard to hit the correct shift button even in the middle of the summer with fingerless gloves. I used mid-weight gloves in August on a trip to Idaho, where the temperature was about 30 degrees. I could only shift by using the very tips of my fingers. Lobster gloves are not an option.
Here’s hoping the Bar Mitts lets me use much thinner gloves so I don’t have to stick to one gear all winter. I’m not cut out to be a fixie person

ParticipantI used moose mitts for my hybrid last year, and even during the coldest and windiest days i didn’t use gloves.

I’m a delicate little princess. I use gloves when the temps are down in the 30s. My moose mitts are a few years old and probably don’t have the fluff that they once did. I should contemplate a new pair. The ones I use most of the time are the drop-bar version that are open in back. The mountain bike ones are fully enclosed and much warmer.

You want to try mine? I bet they’d work pretty nicely. Let’s schedule a test fit. I’ll try to remember to toss them in a bucket so they’re on board the next time we meet up.

ParticipantDue to a last minute decision to ride something a bit more peppy than the 40 pound monster bike that has been my ride for the last week, I tossed the mountain bike Moose Mitts on the drop-bar fixie this morning. They worked great. Basically I installed them backwards to get them to line up right. They were warm and comfy for sure!

ParticipantMy moose mitts allowed me to wear fingerless gloves this morning. Only a bit of sweat on my fingers (as opposed to ice in the pre-moose mitt era).
Thanks to all on the forum who advocated for the product. My fingers thank you.

ParticipantFYI to anyone who is contemplating ordering Moose Mitts. I ordered mine on Nov 6, 2011 and they took 4.5 weeks to arrive; I imagine they are more busy now.
That said, I love them!!!

ParticipantI’ll be installing my Bar Mitts tonight in anticpation of a 15° ride tomorrow morning. I was ok this morning at 28°, but at ten degrees colder will need something warmer.

One thing that I like about them is that they’re truly made in a mom and pop shop. It is a really nice couple who sew them at night when they get home from work. Unfortunately, it can lead to some long lead time.

It is so rare that I get to buy something awesome that was actually made here, so I was happy to wait for mine. Hands were nice and warm this morning!
