Old Courthouse Spring Branch Paved in Tysons?

So I’m using the bikeplanner.org map to plan a commute to my office in Tysons from Arlington. As I have a roadbike I’m not able to do any off-roading.

The map (link) has me going through Old Courthouse Spring Branch Park in Tysons. Are those trails paved? Google Maps doesn’t think so and has me routed differently.

Any tips would be welcome!

Open Street Maps has them listed as a ‘track’ which doesn’t really help, but leads me to believe they are not paved.

if they are smooth however, you could be fine on 25C tires.
As an alternative, haven’t they just redone the sidewalks there? you could always take the sidewalk along leesburg pike at that point. Not ideal, but an option nonetheless.

I would think you would want to take advantage of the WOD to get farther west and come in on the backside rather than on Tysons sidewalks:

There is a paved trail that connects Palm Springs Drive to your destination. You could go through Vienna and get to it that way, so you’d have to take a more southernly route through Vienna instead of using Old Courthouse. It’s a couple more miles but likely less stressful.

I concur with the routes proposed by DismalScientist and FFX_Hinterlands and they are all paved (and less stressful, as FFX points out).

But it looks like your office is near the trail you are inquiring about; could you go out for a quick look see on foot in the evening after work one day?

Yea it’s a temporary move starting May so cant check it out till then.

Thanks for the tips – that was my alternate route. Haven’t thought of the sidewalks as I haven’t actually been in Tyson’s in a few months.
