    A huge thank you to:

    1. All of the BAFS riders that made this winter (dare I say it) so much fun!

    2. The organizers of the BAFS-ing who kept things running smoothly (Hozn, Steve O and the countless others); and

    3. Those who made the final HH such a success, from the fantastic plates to the super prizes.

I cannot wait until next year. And all of you, stay away from Hains Point!

    ;)

Thanks to everyone for being so good to my boys last night. Nothing engenders a love of cycling in 12 year-olds like biking to a gathering with free (to them) food, unlimited root beer and a room full of happy people. And condom medals. Definitely condom medals.

    Seriously – thank you!

For those of you who missed or may have had trouble hearing, here are the winners of this year’s creative ride titles Pointless Prize.
I must say that it was both a joy and real task to select; there were literally scores of deserving titles, ranging from funny to satirical to profound to poetic to literary and on and on. I’ll add another post of honorable mentions later.

Each winner received a gorgeous, ready-to-be-framed memorial certificate along with a related Pointless Prize of immense value.

    Creative Ride Titles Special Commendation
    Awarded to:
    Millie T
For her 38-day ride-title saga of dubious fiction in tribute to Freezing Saddles. Thanks!

Pointless Prize for her work of dubious fiction: a fictional doobie

    Creative Ride Title
Category: Glad it Was You and not Me
    Awarded to:
    Kevin W
For his title that suddenly takes a turn for the worse:

“Hills, Loop and A MACHETE-WIELDING MANIAC!”

Pointless Prize: a machete, of course (actually a plastic sword)

    Creative Ride Title
    Category: Theology
    Awarded to:
    Cynthia P
For her title series that put bicycles in their appropriate place:

“Give us this day our daily ride…I mean bread. And forgive us our sleaze, as we forgive them that sleaze against us. And lead us not into temptation, except of the two-wheeled kind. For thine is the kingdom, the power, the glory and my bicycle, forever and ever. Amen.”

Pointless Prize for this spiritually inspiring effort: a votive candle

    Creative Ride Title
Category: I’m not a Poet, but I Sometimes Play One on Strava
    Awarded to:
    Kurt M
    For his stolen title:

“Faeries, come take me out of this dull world, For I would ride with you upon the wind, Run on the top of the disheveled tide, And dance upon the mountains like a flame.” ― W.B. Yeats

Pointless Prize: an anagram of Yeats: Yeast = a bagel

    Creative Ride Title
    Category: True, True, True!
    Awarded to:
    Gillian B
    For her definitely not-false title:
“Everyone’s wearing pants so we’re good”

Pointless Prize: a pair of pants (from Build-a-Bear)

    Creative Ride Title
    Category: Euphemism
    Awarded to:
    Nimish C
    For his entendre-ridden ride title:

“I got a bicycle icicle for you right here, Steve O,
if you know what I mean”

Pointless Prize: a marker with a blue tip, if you know what I mean

This party crasher had to leave early but had a fun time reveling in BAFSers’ craziness. When leaving, I was impressed with the gaggle of fantastical bicycles locked up outside Cap City (and some folded up and taken inside).

It was nice sitting with you – thanks for coming and laughing at us. Hope you’ll be one of us next year.
