ParticipantLast time I did this ride I wanted to just stay at the rest stops and stuff my piehole. Great ride. Well organized.

Seconded. The treats were really good last year. Plus the ride fees benefit Faquier Trails Coalition. I signed up already. Just need to decide on my costume now.

Judd,
I nominate you to ride as Wonderwoman. There, costume sorted!

Tempting…. but I am 85% sure that a Judd-Komorebi-LeprosyStudyGroup group costume is happening at this ride.

ParticipantOh man! That sounds like an absolute blast! Unfortunately I won’t be able to do it this year.
MSU is making their now bi-annual visit to the beltway to clash with Maryland, so I’ll be spending the day in my Spartan helmet instead of my bike helmet.
(It now occurs to me how much of my Saturdays are spent wearing helmets…)

[…]But…but…don’t you feel it makes a higher-impact statement to ride your bike for MSU, suitably decked out with a flag or maybe an action figure, rather than journeying to a stadium at considerable expense and inconvenience to you? Cycling for pumpkins is surely better?

ParticipantSo I bought a friend’s registration last night, and got her confirmation email.
Their site has all kinds of stern warnings that “transfer registrations” (for which they charged $15 and implied are a huge pain) are closed as of 10/8, no exceptions.
I’m just planning to show them her confirmation, pick up a cue sheet and t-shirt (which may be the wrong size, so I’ll give it to her), ride and eat pumpkin treats. I hope that’s not a problem. They sure seem to be making transfers harder than necessary. Does anyone understand why?

Participant“Mostly sunny, with a high near 57. Northwest wind 11 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph.”
Looking at course map, at least the section where we’re heading north is pretty flat. But ugh. Headwinds.

But think of the food! They always have an amazing spread at this event.

ParticipantIt was a very windy ride this year. It was a lot of cross wind and there were a couple of times the bike was blown a foot or two to the side. I rode with Komorebi and LeprosyStudyGroup in full gnome costume and bikes dressed as foxes which were a hit based in the number of pictures people took with us. Got a bit of a late start and missed seeing most of the other forumites except for Gina.

ParticipantTo piggyback off Judd’s post, here is the reference (with fox-riding in the opening credits):

I watched this show when I was very young (earliest television-related memories along with Fraggle Rock and Muppet Babies), so seeing the pics brought back a lot of early memories

ParticipantWow, amazing costumes. Shame you had to ride with so much wind. Did you make the foxes yourselves?
