Good news: the Holmes Run Trail entrance from Columbia Pike is finally open again! Now, you can ride between Columbia Pike and Eisenhower Ave on a continuous trail. Also, the water in Holmes Run is still wet and cold 😎

This evening I found the trails full of goofy behavior by cyclists and peds. It was like riding in a Mario Kart game.

Bouncing on mushrooms only works if you bleed a little pressure out of your tires.

Arlington is also the site of the first motel in what became the Marriott hotel chain. The Twin Bridges Motor Hotel was located near Long Bridge, at the corner of Boundary Channel Drive and the new Long Bridge Drive, just to the north of Long Bridge Park. You can still see the footprint of the buildings on Google Maps.

That’s the site for the planned aquatics center, which has been put on hold for now.

Who do we call to get that fixed? Who has jurisdiction? It’s been like that forever.

Lots of county maintenance vehicles on the W&OD this afternoon in the Glencarlyn area. It wasn’t entirely clear what they were doing, but it was more than the usual amount of maintenance work I’ve been seeing mid-day. Also, workers at the poop plant had a fire hydrant open and it was covering the trail in a pretty decent pool of water. Given the location, I was quite loath to ride through it….

Thanks for the heads up! That’s my favorite trail in the region.

There’s a fine line between adventure lovin’ and insanely reckless. Ride tomorrow and find out which it is.

My phone just blew up with tornado warnings for DC and PG County. Careful out there.

No flooding that I saw on the Prince George’s trails. Lots of wet leaves on the trail though.
