I feel like the second they offered us beer and free water bottles the protest would end peacefully…

Maybe we should all have signs that say “Will protest for free beer”

Perhaps we should organize an occupation of one of those parks to protest overweening federal ownership of what should be local lands? Wait, wasn’t there one of those recently out west that didn’t end too well?

    Just kidding, everyone!

I nominate this park as the site for occupation. I believe there are enough people on this forum to occupy every inch of this expansive park. Never mind that this park is probably not controlled by NPS…

Right now I’m trying to get the NPS to take the snow fences down on the Humpback approaches as they seem to be causing, not preventing problems.

The snow fences are still there.

I have taken notice of that, too. Fantasized about a little trail vandalism, but know that is unwise.

BTW, the meeting happened. NPS brass from the GWMP met with WABA and local advocates and staff from Arlington and Alexandria. This is huge!

No promises, but definitely a good first step. There is hope

And remain so today. I was wondering which would be gone first, the Humpback Glacier or the snow fences that created it. Given the predicted temperature for tomorrow, I think the last of the Humpback Glacier will be the first to disappear.
