    It’s still some SERIOUSLY crazy skills… under-inflated or not…

And to be fair, the bike really is pretty much a stock Dogma (seat is lower than it would be, but otherwise?)…and riding this on carbon wheels is just nutty!

Oh, it’s totally ridiculous what he’s doing on a road bike, don’t get me wrong. But I wouldn’t try to ride the top of a fence on clipless pedals (and neither would he).

I can barely even ride on a road with clipless pedals :(

I had my first failure in 10+ years after the Arlington Fun ride. Left a nice gouge in the rear bumper of my car (luckily, plastic).

Mineral spirits may be harmless to your bike, but they’re pretty nasty to your lungs, skin, and overall health.

I know nothing is totally safe, but if you want to use mineral spirits to clean your bike you should wear gloves and get plenty of fresh air. (Except that “evaporates quickly” part means the hydrocarbons are being released into the air anyway.)

Oh yeah, only outdoors, and I always wear gloves. And its not like I’m sloshing gallons of the stuff…we’re talking a spray bottle, brush and rag.

True story, a friend of mine got really into making duck decoys a few years ago, and he called me one night to chat. He wasn’t making sense; he sounded drunk, or drugged or just disoriented and sluggish in some way and I got really worried. I asked him what he was doing and he said, “Well…you know…I’m the back porch…you know…painting…you know, umm…decoys…”

I knew his back porch was enclosed so I told him to get out of there, then I talked to him over the next 5 minutes as he literally came to his senses. He was asking questions like “How long have we been talking?” Scary stuff. That was lesson enough for me. Be careful with the stuff!

Um… well, they were a primary sponsor… and who knows how many bikes he destroyed…
