ParticipantRecovery going well. Next Thursday I expect to be weight-bearing in a boot. Then another 6-8 weeks and I can walk unassisted.
Gremlin is back to soccer. She’s a little tentative but she should be fine shortly

ParticipantRecovery update: I WALKED TODAY! Not very far, but this is the first time since March 8th that I’ve walked without crutches or a boot. It’s an exciting day. I’m probably 3-4 weeks out from starting to bike again.

ParticipantI RODE A BIKE!

Not a long ride. It was tiring and my right foot is the one I push off with, so having that leg still weak from surgery and months of not being used makes it tough. But I rode a real bike outside after 96 days of not riding and it was awesome.

ParticipantI rode with clipless pedals today! This was a bit of a psychological hurdle to get over. Last time I wore these shoes was the day I tore it, and I remember sitting in the ER with my shoes on for a while until the foot swelled enough to hurt and I had to take the right shoe off. And for months after the surgery, my foot was too swollen to wear the bike shoes. But today I put them back on and rode and it was fine.
Next hurdle – getting back on the fixie. It’s currently geared at 46/16, which I think is a hair aggressive for my current fitness level and leg strength.
