Participantjrenaut- Am so sorry you wrecked. Were it me, I would be most frightened for the *most precious cargo on earth* riding with you. Wishing her quick healing with NO long term damage to her teeth. And hopefully for you, a shorter than the norm recovery.

ParticipantDay 2 update – Gremlin 2 is in good spirits. She is upset she’s missing her first soccer tournament of the season this weekend, but not in any pain (which is amazing). I am already getting cabin fever from rolling around the house on a knee roller and am already googling “hand powered recumbent trike”. I’m not in any pain, either, which is entirely weird.
Today will be only the third day of BAFS I’ve missed since I started in year 2, and the other two were while we were flying to and from Australia and it was literally impossible to get a ride in.
So, could have been way worse. Thanks for all the well-wishes.

ParticipantJeeez Jon I’m so sorry to hear this. And what a TROUPER your awesome daughter is! I hope your Achilles heals with no pain. Your daughter sounds like she don’t need no stinkin’ well wishes, but she’s got mine anyhow. And probably my vote, if she ever decides to run for anything I can vote for!
Don’t worry about freezing Saddles. We love you guys anyhow. You might just hafta wait to ride til is nicer out…..

ParticipantYou think that qualifies you to withdraw from Freezing Saddles??? Ha! There is no bowing out of this funfest. [emoji23]
But seriously, rest up, heal well, and see you at closing happy hour. Thanks for all you do. #badassbikingfamily

You should come down and play host, like Sarah Bee did the year she injured herself.

I”d like to do that. Just need to work out some logistics. It sucks that I likely won’t even be able to DRIVE for 6 weeks and the hand powered recumbent trikes are like $4000. I really think that should be covered by health insurance in cases like these.

I 100% agree with this statement!
So sorry to hear about your injury and your daughter’s crash. It sounds like she is a tough one, though. Rest up and heal quickly.

ParticipantHoly sh#t! I’m sure that was a scary moment. Your daughter sounds like she’s tough as nail. You … well …
Wishing you a speedy recovery from your ruptured Achilles. That sounds painful.

ParticipantUpdates – daughter had 2 root canals this morning. Apparently she was a model patient, the dentist wishes all the 8-year-olds he works on were like her. So far, so good.
I saw the ortho this morning. Unless there is something crazy in the MRI this weekend, likely to have surgery early next week. I’m encouraged by the recovery timeline – it’s faster than Dr Google lead me to believe. Assuming surgery next week, I should be able to walk with a boot the first week of April and walk normally around May 15. I don’t know if that means I can bike to Bike to Work Day, but I’m hopeful.

How’s your recovery going, Jon? And Ms, route canal?
You must be so proud of the way your daughter is handling this. You are a lucky dad…. Except heh, it’s not exactly all luck, I’d it? I’m sure you know you have something to do with why she’s that way….
