The only time I’ve ridden to (and around) Lake Anna was from Spotsylvania CH, following a Potomac Pedalers cue. I don’t know if that helps any or not:

Back in the early 1990s, I was on a Potomac Pedalers randonneur ride out of Nokesville down to around Lake Anna. We certainly did not take Nokesville road, but I don’t remember any specific roads. Perhaps the DC Ramdonneurs could help.

Try the cue sheet link here: http://dccenturyrides.blogspot.com/
(IT folks won’t let me open it.)

Thanks for the link, but I’ve got a friend that has a house down there, the around the lake route we have. I thought it might be fun to ride down and/or back, thats what I’m looking for.

I seem to remember from my motorcycle days that this may not be the best idea ever. I seem to remember lots of high speed traffic and not much shoulder space.

Strava users would seem to agree with you. Looks like they think that Fleetwood Dr and Brent Town Rd along the west side of Quantico are better routes to the south.

EDIT: I just looked at the second link that Dismal posted. They took the route that talked about above. You might want to look at the cue sheet in that second link for some ideas on where to go further south.
