If you skid stop a lot (which I think most people don’t?). I haven’t dared try it yet.

Did I miss it? What did you get?

Finally got a Wabi after visiting their website maybe a hundred times over the last 12 months! Their prices were going up in December and they have a new wheelset now too (only slightly lighter but the bolt on design is better). I’m still tuning the fit and haven’t wrapped the bars yet.

Yes, if you skid stop instead of using brakes. 48:16 gives you only one skid patch, meaning you’ll wear down that one spot everytime you skid. That’s why I ride 48:17
All City has a cool gear calculator that also tells you # of skid patches.

It’s just a standard Wabi “Special” – I didn’t customize it beyond the sacrilegious 16/18T dixed cog, and the timing of life events has been such that I haven’t had a chance to ride it more than a few miles at a time (or even in spandex!), but those few miles have been enjoyable! I’ve been amazed at the ride feel on 23s. Almost forgot to put on bike shoes today though which would’ve been non-ideal for foot retention. Final stem/bars/tape set up pending: I meant to have the front brake routed through the right not left hood but forgot about it so I may just leave it as my road bike is the same. I’m gonna try the higher wattage white bar tape…
