    Somewhat related, apparently GPS was directing people onto the Capital Crescent Trail, which is why they had to put up a gatehttp://www.wjla.com/articles/2013/06/capital-crescent-trail-gated-to-prohibit-cars-90529.html You have to watch the video to see the car drivers looking very perplexed upon arriving at the new gate.

    I’ve seen people in cars trying to back their way out of the trail there at Gallows a couple of times.

    Looked to me like the GPS guidance they showed was for Whitehurst Freeway, not Water Street. GPS doesn’t do well with elevation differences or slight displacements, so it wouldn’t recalculate or warn.
