I was reading the June 2013 issue of Washington Lawyer, the publication of the DC Bar Association on the metro this morning (yes, I rode the METRO — I saw the forecast and my bike is not pontoon-equipped). There is an interview with the new president of the bar, Andrea Ferster, a sole practitioner who is also general counse of Rails-to-Trails. Here is the second paragraph:

“Step into Ferster’s office, which she shares with Rails-to-Trails, and you’re greeted with a large mural depicting a beautiful city trail. Personal bicycles line the walls — a fitting atmosphere for a native Washingtonian who makes her way through the streets and neighborhoods of the District by bike, bus, Metro or her own two feet, which are often clad in running shoes.”

One of the photographs accompanying the article has a lovely classic steel bike with shifters on the downtube in the background.

She talks a bit about her background and how she came to be car-free in the interview.

The magazine is made available online at the DC Bar website, but they hadn’t posted this issue yet. Maybe in a few days it will appear. You can read the whole interview then, if you are interested.

    Liz
