i rode over this today and thought of magnetic loops. but carbon fiber or aluminum frames shouldn’t register. the post has what look like optical sensors.
(this was in arlington on the custis trail, but i saw others along the w&od in arlington, too.)

Found a reference to a french company called Eco Counter on a TBD article. Searching for that led me to this page.

Seems like it still might miss folks with carbon wheelsets (or count them as peds), but I think a majority of folks are riding on some sort of metal rim that should trigger the sensor. Looks like they double-dip for the cyclists as well.

EcoVisio/EcoCounter is indeed the company who provides the counters here!

I realize they just went in, but any idea when the data is scheduled to be released?
