    Done.

I commute through here all the time. From the WOD to the 14th St bridge, I like going through CC more than going by the airport. Based on going through this corridor lots, I have two observations maybe people can share.

On the east end of Boundary Channel Drive, cars are coming from the pentagon to get on to 395. There are two lanes of traffic. The right lane is the lane to go up to 395. It backs WAY up. So guess what. Jerks cut down the left lane, to the end of the channel, and create a clusterf- of aggressive driving. It can get really bad depending on how bad the jerks are. And car drivers acting like jerks means they are not looking for cyclists – and it means they are not predictable.

    Therefore
    * Something needs to be done about the aggressive driving. I note the drawing has the drive as only one lane in the future. This will make congestion FAR worse. People also use this route to get from the pentagon to Crystal City – it would mean all of that car traffic would get jammed in the traffic trying to get on 395. Trust me – I have no sympathy for car drivers. That said – if the situation becomes worse, it could become more dangerous for pedestrians.
    * The mutli use path MUST be a physically separate path. With barriers. If, for example, its just a sidewalk, cars gonna drive down that sidewalk you just know it.

Second, on the north west corner, the path along Pentagon Lagoon is currently a dirt path that connects to the MVT. It is away from the road. The new trail is drawn RIGHT NEXT to the road. There is no reason for that. But putting the trail next to the road results in pedestrians getting blinded by headlights, getting to enjoy more pollution, and increased noise. It is far safer if the trail is moved away from the road. They have plenty of room there. It would be easy to do.

At the open house, I believe they said that there would be an 8 foot buffer between the the trail and the roadway. I think asking for more space between the roadway and the trail and also some landscaping to prevent blinding headlights from the road like on portions of the Mount Vernon Trail.
