ParticipantFalls Church? More like Tysons purgatory, really.
I’m up for this, but this involves riding Idylwood in the morning, which is one of those things that is Not Cool At All, Jack.

think of the fun group roll out of coffee and sugar addled commuters racing up Idyl Lane! and then waiting for five minutes for a break in 40 mph traffic on Idylwood

ParticipantI have heard of donut and fried chicken places but this idea is revolting to me — all one deep fryer, or separate for the sweet and savory?
Nonetheless, when the weather finally turns warm again, my son will probably resume his high school bike commute and this is the spot I use for the turnaround point.
@americancyclo, weren’t you the one who taught me just to ride down Route 7?Liz

Ever had chicken and waffles? Sounds weird until you try it, then it’s like how in the future can I possibly eat a waffle WITHOUT fried chicken?

I believe the place also allows you to order one or the other (I’ll be doing both, because I’ll try most things once). I’ve used 7 to get to this Whole Foods too, but that is no less of a mood-murder. The trouble with 7 is all the people trying to drive on it, really.

I used to ride down route 7 from shreve to pick up toddlercyclo, but the return trip with her was usually idyl lane or the sidewalk going up idylwood depending on her mood. I wouldn’t ride 7 eastbound with little ones and maybe solo if I got the jump at the light before the ramp to 666

Okay, I’m going to take your word for it.

The trick is to be patient and time the light and then you are going through that section pretty much by yourself.

This is one result of combining fried chicken and a doughnut: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/going-out-guide/wp/2014/07/22/astros-old-bay-doughnut-fried-chicken-sandwich-wow/

The Luther is worth getting over to GBD for if you’re in Dupont Circle *and* they’re open:

ParticipantDefinitely in for this – coming from my direction I can just cut through Pimmit. Which we can do going back if you want some fun rollers to the right turn on Great Falls.

ParticipantI would try this. If it’s another one of these BCODCC (butt-crack-of-dawn coffee clubs), I may only try it once. :p

Update: oh sweet lord, this is delicious.

ParticipantWhen does this place open?
I think I’ve sorted out a route that minimizes the time on Idylwood.
