New Bike Trail is Opening in Arlington…in 1967

Wow, that’s an eye-opener. From the map, I deduce that:

– this trail section, and perhaps the rest of the Four Mile Run trail, existed before the W&OD railroad was abandoned
– the trail ran around the western side of the tennis courts only
– there was a church where the Sunrise senior home is
– 8th Road might have still connected to Wilson Blvd.
– cyclists didn’t wear helmets back then and were really huge and rode around floating in the sky
