    Got my bike back today. The new frame replaced the cracked old frame. I now have a Jamis Eclipse. They also replaced the drivetrain and the cables. My 10-year-old calls it the “candy cane bike.”

    The whole thing was much speedier than I thought. And just in time for Cherry Blossom commuting! Whew. Thanks so much for everyone who gave advice about negotiating the transaction.

    Nice! Definitely see that coming a ways off – which is a good thing. Of course faster is always better.

    Clarification: When I said the whole thing was speedier than I thought, I meant the process for the warranty claim. Time will tell if the new frame makes me ride any faster (I had to stop at the grocery store this a.m. so I wasn’t on my regular route for comparison purposes).
