To Sunyata, I was just looking at a potential place in Park Fairfax! Many thanks for the feedback. The condo looks nice but I didn’t know anything about the association and how well it is run. I’m familiar with the area because I sometimes bike through there on “fitness rides.” Happy to hear about the impending Cabi station!
I have been in Park Farifax for almost three and a half years. The association seems to be well run. They are constantly working on improving both the structural and aesthetics of the neighbourhood/buildings. (They are WWII era buildings.)
I honestly love living there. The only downside is that my place is not a patio unit. But there is plenty of shared green space for my dogs and me to enjoy. The only way I would move is if I were able to afford to live in a single family home with a fenced yard (which may never happen in my lifetime if I continue to stay in the area…).
BONUS: A four-ish minute bike ride to Best Buns, Capital City Brewing, and New District Brewing. 😎

Of course, eventually, the land swap should go through and the Pike should be realigned and there may be better facilities on the Pike. Maybe.
Bwaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaahaaaaaa! Land swap fell through. Army keeps it all AND takes VDOT and County land too.

Huh. Wasn’t aware that there are Columbia Pike buses that go all the way to DC. I was planning on taking a bus to Pentagon metro and then going the one stop to L’Enfant (my office sits on top of the station). If I don’t want to bike I’m not too terribly concerned because there are lots of buses that go to Pentagon and PC. I just hate the Pike when it comes to biking and walking.
Instead of building a wall along Mexico, can’t Trump just build a long tunnel and move the traffic below ground?!
I believe I read that the 16X DC portion is scheduled to go the way of the wind. Sadly.

I’m seriously contemplating making a bid on a house in the Nauck neighborhood (near S Barton St neighborhood off Columbia Pike). I work at L’Enfant Plaza and currently reside in Pentagon City.
I’ve biked through the Army Navy country club on weekends and have never had a problem. I am loathe to bike on Columbia Pike so the easiest way for me to get into DC would be to use the golf club shortcut to Army Navy Drive. My only other alternative is S Walter Reed then through Fort Meyer which is longer and not as dependable (they may close access to cyclists at any time, the gates close early).
Am I okay presuming I can cut through the country club on a daily basis without any issues? I believe they close the gates at 11:00 pm but am unsure what time they open. Does anyone know? The gate hours aren’t listed on their website.
Many thanks!
Have you considered riding the Arlington Blvd trail? Can access it by going up S Courthouse Rd to Washington Blvd/S Walter Reed Dr (that half block that’s signed as Walter Reed) up near the 2nd Street South entrance to JBMHH.
As to ANCC, I’ve heard mixed reviews. Some folks have alleged that the staff get all uppity about the incursion by bicycles (and cars and motorcycles) that travel on the private roads at the club.
