Hello Washington Area Bike Forum Members,

The League of American Bicyclist is hosting their annual National Bike Summit on March 8th – 10th, 2011. Bicycle advocates from around the country come to Washington, DC to advocate for national bicycle policy and funding. The League is expecting about 1,000 participants to attend. Sending advocates to DC is an expensive and financially challenging for many small non-profit advocacy groups. To help keep costs down, local bicyclists have open their homes to visiting attends in the past and it would be great to continue this long tradition.

We will use this thread to send both potential hosts and attendees looking for housing. Please do not feel pressured to open your home or accept a guest that makes your uncomfortable. This is a “choose you’re own adventure”. Connect with each other here and if it seems like a good fit then exchange information via a private message. There are attendees that stay with the same local bicyclists year after year creating a lasting relationship. Other attendees just need help this one time and an extra sofa is more than enough. Hopefully, we (DC) can be helpful host!

    Thanks All,
    Greg Billing

    Good evening,
I posted a few weeks ago, but haven’t received any responses. Is there anyone who might be able to offer a homestay for the Summit? I will be arriving the night before the summit and staying through Friday. I’m a non-smoker, non-drinker, vegetarian looking for simple accommodations.
Please contact me by phone at 304-276-0213 or 304-906-1206 (talk or text) if you can help me out.
    Thank you.
    Nick
