No matter how I click the link to join from NBC, or even which hand or finger I use, I always get the error: Whoops, looks like something went wrong.
Can someone tell if I’m already in WAAS? Or if I should use my toe to try to click the link?
Join the WAAS club from Strava, not the NBC site.

You are in the Strava club but not the NBC.

OK, I see that I’m in the WAAS (https://www.strava.com/clubs/69668), but to get into the NBC, I should be doing that on the NationalBikeChallenge.org site, right? That site won’t let me log in, or try to Join the Challenge. It simply keeps going to the page with the error. I’ve tried it on IE, Firefox, Chrome and even Edge, all to no avail. I tried to join it a while ago but was getting this same error back then, but figured they’d fix it by now.
I’ve tried the “Join the Challenge” link/button: https://nationalbikechallenge.org
I’ve tried the “Connect with Strava” link/button here: https://nationalbikechallenge.org/join
I tried the Log In link on the top right of either of those pages above. What do I have to do to make my measly miles count?

ParticipantThe site has a lot of errors for just about any function, what usually works is to try again tomorrow.

ParticipantGet to a DOS prompt. Then type DEL TREE. Then reinstall Windows.

Some people are really motivated by points and competition, whether they matter or not. Freezing Saddles seems to have more of an effect than NBC. There are several people on my Strava feed that rode way more during Freezing Saddles than they do now.
Part of that is because FS is a totally local competition. Of the locals, by the locals and for the locals. And there’s also the fact that despite being an entirely local competition the FS website and data ingestion was handled WAY better than NBC ever did. NBC might be finally catching up now, but in the past it was too much of a hassle to even bother.

This is because I didn’t have a broken collarbone during freezing saddles…

ParticipantAll I know is before I started hanging out with any of you guys, it was the NBC that got me into cycling more regularly.
Once upon a time it was my goal to make it to Gold before the end of the summer. Then the next year I’d try to beat my previous year, and so on and so forth. Before I was on Strava it was the only time when all of my miles were logged and it was amazing to see how far I’d ridden by the end of the summer. It was a huuuge motivator!
Right now I’m seeing that sort of thing happening with my husband. After not being on the bike for months, this year he’s decided that he is going to try to ride every day during the challenge–even if that means not putting up more than a mile or two. He’s actually gone out at 11pm in the rain to get in a sleaze ride, and has been using the phrase sleaze ride!
I still dream of the day when we can ride somewhere together that’s a little beyond is comfort zone, but we’re getting there, and the NBC is a major part of that.

ParticipantLooks like the WAAS were shut out of the July prizes. The only DC-area winner was someone named Donald Harvey, who appears to live in Springfield. He won a LAB membership.
