ParticipantI stopped logging a while ago, but did go back and enter some miles today. I was interested in looking to see what the leaders had done, only to find out that the #1 leader has been disqualified because he doesn’t have fancy GPS gear.

As far as being disqualified, to put it politely, that sucks!!!! I have never seen any reason to question your workouts
I mean, lots of people ride 1000 miles a week for 3 months straight…

he’s a vet on disability, so he can’t work, but he can ride that much? I don’t see a GPS track on his profile longer than 60 miles.

ParticipantWhile expressing absolutely no opinion on whether his miles are legit, I believe him on the battery issue. I’ve had my Garmin for less than three weeks and before that I used a smart phone app. Even on what passes for a long ride for me (no more than 100 miles) my battery dies. I guess someone could donate a Garmin to him and then we’d know for sure . . .
On another topic, everyone has done so well on this challenge, but regrettably, there don’t seem to be any female riders in the Top 20 of the local leaderboard. Are there any female participants who haven’t been logging miles lately? If so, can you please log them so the guys don’t completely bury us? Thanks!

ParticipantLiz,
Are you sure? I did a real quick check and saw a few of us in the top 10 or 20 on the local leaderboard – both for the entire period and for August. I didn’t have time to record the exact count for each.

ParticipantI’m not saying he’s not doing those miles, but I wouldn’t mind seeing evidence. I have an HTC Incredible. A phone that is notorious for being incredibly bad at managing battery life. When I did the Seagull Century last year, I used strava on my phone in airplane mode with GPS on, and at the end of my ride, I had over half my phone’s battery life left after 100 miles.

Hmmm . . . For Washington-Arlington-Alexandria, I am seeing myself at #10 on the August leaderboard (no other women) and me at #21 for the entire period as the first woman. What are others seeing? This is weird.
Liz
P.S. EDIT: I have 4211 points/2114 miles.

This could be another one of those things where some people don’t see everyone’s results. For a long time, My results didn’t show up in the local ratings for most people.

That my guess too–it’s a cumbersome interface. A bit shoddy for a nationwide contest on this scale.

ParticipantI can’t wait to stop using endomondo.

I see the same as you for WASHINGTON-ARLINGTON-ALEXANDRIA, DC-VA-MD-WV
712 riders.
4276661 citizens.Maybe arlingtonrider meant just VA as opposed to the “Communities” leaderboard?
Anyway, just do a W&OD + back on August 31 and you’ll crack the top 20.

ParticipantJust checked the full period, local riders leaderboard. Based on what I can see:
Kathy Lewis is 7, Megan Jones 8, Amy Adler 12, Zanna Worzella 17 and Kathy Lizotte is 23
I may have missed some but it seems the system doesn’t know much about where we are!
The data seems to be different at the communities level
Go figure!

My Garmin Edge 500 started giving me a low battery life at the end of the Total 200. It had been on for about 18 hours (just under 14 hours of riding time at 203 miles) and I think read about 10% of charge left when I plugged it in when I got home.

What I see for the full period:
Kathy Lewis is 34, Megan Jones 37. There are four women ahead of them in the 20s (myself included).
Very strange, and also a bit demoralizing — if everyone is seeing something different, how are we to know where we stand?

My 800 (which I was recharging for a few minutes at a time at each stop) had about 30-40% left. My 310xt, which I left running in my back pocket with the contrast turned almost all the way off was at something pretty high–like 70% or so, at the end of T200.

ParticipantHow did you recharge your Garmin enroute?

Ok, what’s the difference between the “local” and “communities” level? Maybe that’s the source of the confusion. I don’t see anything labelled “local”.
