There were prizes? I thought exercise was its own reward–that and the $250 saved in parking every month.

Only $250? My garage charges $25 a day for cars, nothing for bikes. Then again, I work in downtown DC.

It appears I will hit diamond this week, probably Thursday. Congrats to those 34 WAAS who are already there. I salute you.

Way to go Steve O! Kitty also became a diamond club member this week. Glad to have been along with pith of you for at least 100 points worth of the 5,000. Your diamond club cufflinks are in the mail.

So what should we do with the award if we win? When we were the BikeAringtion All-Stars we won a nice piece of art work suitable for framing which went to BikeArlington HQ in Rosslyn and may have been hung on a wall there. Last year’s first place award was a Park Tool floor pump that had National Bike Challenge wrote on it (meh). No idea what we will win this year or who should get it. I think Bob James will finish in the top ten individual rider, which is way better than any of us have done in the past. Maybe he should get the award. Other possibilities, WABA, BikeArlington..?

Depending on what it is, maybe a raffle prize for the Hains Point 100?

Looks like I hit diamond today, a lot later than in previous years.

I’m downtown too. Our place is $15 a day for cars (bikes free), but can be subsidized to $8 a day if you choose the parking benefit. I’ve already chosen the cycling benefit and have about 2 years worth on it (at $125 a month!) to be reimbursed, so there’s no going back. Not that I would anyway.

$25 a day is like NYC prices.

We’re currently showing 38 of the Washington Area Allstars as reaching the diamond level, which is 5,000 points. Just cruising down the list, there are several folks showing as not having synced in a while. This can usually be fixed by visiting the site, logging out, logging back in and hitting the “Sync Now” button. A couple of folks I know have ridden recently either because I actually saw you on a bike, follow you on Strava or secretly stalk you on Strava, but it doesn’t look like the site is syncing. Below are some folks I’m certain are riding along with the last time NBC shows you rode:

    Eric Williams – 3 weeks
    Steve Claeys – 2 days
    Consular Rider – 6 days
    Chris Shue – 3 weeks
    Harry Meatmotor – 1 month
    Pete Beers – 1 month
    Boomer – 3 weeks
    Hans – 2 months
    Teresa Amundson – 2 months
    Rudi Riet – 1 month
    Sarah Bee – 2 months
    Karen Warkentien – 2 months
    Tim Kelley – 3 months
    Emm – 3 months ago

Ok, logged out and back in, it still didn’t snyc my Saturday ride so I added it manually. Still waiting for today’s ride to show up in the totals since Strava says it was snyc’ed.

YES!!! It looks like with my ride home from work/Boomer Bonvoyage gathering on Friday, I hit my NBC2016 mileage goal of 2,500 miles! (Last year closed out Sept 30 with 2,300 on the dot)

Among my worries when Furiosa was stolen was whether or not I would still make my goal. One of my favorite parts of the NBC over the years has been to see how far I’d go each competition, and then look back and see how much I’d grown since past years. (Especially before I started daily app-use to log miles, when it was the only way/time I kept track) Bikeless at the end of August, it was disappointing and sad to think that for the first time in years I’d fall short of the previous year’s total.

However thanks to Bikeeveryday loaning me his CaBi fob, Revolution hooking me up with a loaner, and their rush job on getting my replacement in, (say nothing of all the awesome forum folks who offered me use of their +1 bikes) I managed to make my goal with a week to spare! For which I am supremely grateful.

Now I’m going to see how many more miles I can squeeze in… :D

Welp, time’s a runnin’ out and I started too late, but I just barely squeezed in Platinum today. Next year I’ll start on time.

If I could duplicate the last three months for the entire year, I could reach 5,000 miles, but I just can’t seem to get the miles in during the dark season because skiing. If I reach 4,600, I’ll be quite happy.

Welp, with the weather and being sick (say nothing of close of the fiscal year madness) I wasn’t able to finish today with a bunch of extra riding, but for the 4th year in a row I’ve ridden further and more often then the previous year.

    Final numbers:

    • Distance: 2,680.8 miles
    • Days: 152 (only missed one!)
    • Bikes: 5 (3 rented, 2 mine)

    Fun stats:

    • States Ridden In: 6
    • Parents Ridden With: 1
    • Breweries Visited: 6
    • Days dressed as a duck: 1

As always, it was a wonderful season of cycling with plenty of fun memories! I managed to ride 380.8 miles more than last year and did much better on riding (almost) every day. Too bad about Gainesville, but I had a great time without ’em. 😎

Looks.like Tim vandish won a beanie. Looks like I’m going another year w/o toilet paper 😎

*But I did win some people for bikes socks and a pair of cat ears from the Darlington Fun Ride raffle today so I can make this work.

Thanks again for the car ears LSG! Just the thing to get excited for the NEXT challenge. Only 3 more months ’til Freezing Saddles! ;)
