So I’m currently in the group thanks to my last few years participating but I have a question: Am I hurting the group more by staying in it when I’ll be dead weight for a good portion of the challenge? As of May 24, I’m off my bike for 8-12 weeks thanks to hip surgery. Once I get back on, it may still be a little time before I can handle the 28 mile round trip commute that I just signed up for thanks to buying a house in Fort Hunt. I’m guessing I’ll be back riding sometime in August, but it’ll likely just doing some Hains Point laps for a month or so while I build my strength back up.
Good luck with the surgery and subsequent recovery! Unfortunately, I can relate.

ParticipantOk, I joined and linked my Strava too. My two May rides also show up – however, it says I have no impact in any of the three categories. 😮

ParticipantSo, they finally fixed it to show the points from this year’s challenge. However, it seems that my points are not being tallied correctly. I have 115.9 miles ridden since the challenge started, but only 136 points (as of yesterday). I have ridden every day (since December 30th, YAY!), so by my calculations and according to the rules, I should have 216 points. Am I missing something?

ParticipantI’m guessing they use an automated job that runs every night to calculate everyone’s points.
When I joined last night, my two Strava rides to date in May showed up, but I had 0 points.
As of lunchtime today I suddenly have 60.

“Our number one goal in redesigning the site, both visually and under-the-hood, is to make it a great experience for you. We’re working as quickly as possible to systematically address the problems that have emerged. Those problems all center around one thing: delivering your ride data back to you and your team in real time.
Please be assured, your ride data is getting to us. Whether you enter it manually through the site, or sync it using an existing app, no data has been lost. What we need to fix is delivering that info back to you so you can see your own numbers, see how you stack up, see how your group is faring and feel the satisfaction that your miles count. We know all of these things make being a part of the Challenge fun and appealing. We sincerely apologize that we don’t have full functionality yet.”

ParticipantI created my profile as a Transportation rider, but my Points/Impact display is reporting my points as 100% Recreation.
I just emailed a bug report to them.

ParticipantThe NBC website has still not picked up my Tuesday ride or my second Thursday so I am short 52 points which would have put me in the top 20 nationally, bumping Rod.

ParticipantChecking it this morning, it looks like all of my rides from the past week have uploaded (good) though there still seems to be a lot of issues on totaling things and the leader boards.
That said, biggest concern: WHAT HAPPENED TO GAINESVILLE?! 😮
I don’t see them anywhere on the system. I can’t fathom a group as big and consistent in is participation just suddenly disbanding…

ParticipantNow we have to watch Omaha and Plano. And Rod is still six points ahead of me as of yesterday’s rides.

ParticipantGainesville has quit the NBC before. Because one our teammates called them crackers I think. This time maybe because I accused them of cheating. Their club’s president is a drama queen. I’m pretty sure he’s reading this discussion. Sorry Jayson but I just don’t believe you came up with 200,000 LEGITIMATE points on the last day of the contest!
Anyway, whether they return or not, let’s have fun riding our bikes and let the chips fall where they may. Omaha has grown their team. They’ve finished ahead of us before. It’s good to have competition!

ParticipantIt’s interesting to compare my dashboard with the leaderboard info, dashboard has all my rides synced and ranks me at 33, the leaderboard is still missing my Sunday ride and has me ranked at 38.

Around, but not putting up big numbers yet:
North Central Florida Cracker All Stars
https://nationalbikechallenge.org/team/9872You just gotta laugh at that, considering the fits that were thrown last year about it.
