ParticipantWell, I may not have won any toilet paper. But this competition and Freezing Saddles have clearly had an impact on my biking over the last five years. Here are the statistics on miles biked in September for each of the last five years:
2012 117.66
2013 134.70
2014 186.71
2015 238.62
2016 500.50October 3, 2016 at 5:17 pm #1056287LeprosyStudyGroup
ParticipantSo I was looking at the national ranking leaderboard for this year cause for whatever reason my NBC profile won’t load now that the thing is over and I noticed this little gem:

Participant666 seems to be a recurring number withing the All-Stars. Judd just had a ride end with 666 as the ride elevation.

2016 500.50It was odd that the two people accused of point fraud (Phil Webber and K K M) both won the diamond prize bikes. In any case, I also would have preferred the more practical gold prize of a year worth of TP.
Carol, very nice increase for September riding. Especially since we had I think the hottest September and then the last few days were the wettest.

ParticipantGiven the many thousands of riders, it’s fun to see that HM and I ended up on the same leaderboard page:

ParticipantI found the NBC page handy to quickly look at my monthly mileage totals, but it looks like the National Bike Challenge lost their primary sponsor and for the most part shut down their page. I found the summer contest enjoyable, so I do hope they find another sponsor.
National Bike Challenge Facebook Page
“Due to the financial impact from the loss of our major founding sponsor, the National Bike Challenge had to make a difficult decision to shut down the site and install a static page at the end of November. This resulted from a lack of funds to pay ongoing costs including hosting fees. We have faithfully served the Challenge community for the past five years at no cost to our riders. Although we are presently encountering some turbulence, our volunteers are working hard to develop plans to address the reality of the current situation and deliver you a robust and improved challenge in 2017. We ask for your patience during this time.
Thank you,
The National Bike Challenge”December 3, 2016 at 11:59 pm #1061198consularrider
