ParticipantI think you mean me, not dasgeh? There was a response to your post over there from Jakob (the guy who seems to be fixing things), asking when the last ride you tried to sync was. I checked your Strava records, and answered him, so I’m hoping he’ll have a response for you soon.

Sorry, CV. Yes, you. Thanks for following up.

You rode 1448 miles in April! Impressive! Are you planning to ramp it up when the challenge starts tomorrow?

Imagine what I could have done if I hadn’t quit using fitness syncer.

ParticipantIn case anyone was worried, they confirmed that the year’s supply of toilet paper will be back as one of the prizes. You can all rest easier now.

ParticipantI saw that. Of course, I’m trying not to think too hard about how they will determine what a “year’s supply” of toilet paper is. For example, will the quantity be greater if a woman wins than if a man does?

ParticipantThis is what they posted, photo and text:
“Have you ever wondered what a year’s supply of toilet paper looks like?! Wonder no more!
Here’s a picture of one of our 2013 Challenge winners… she scored 365 days of T.P., courtesy of Kimberly-Clark Corporation (United States) and Scott Naturals!
We’ve got this prize, and more, up for grabs in 2014! Keep an eye out for a full prize list, and more opportunities to score a pair of official National Bike Challenge socks before they’re available to the public!”

ParticipantBut how did they determine this was a year’s supply?

ParticipantData mining. Pay cash at the risk of getting short sheeted.

Probably just an estimate of what the “average” person would use in one year. Doesn’t look like they are distinguishing between women and men. If you win, you get four large boxes.
While you do win bragging rights for winning (only person in the D.C. area to win free toilet paper that month), I’d prefer to win one of the other prizes. Well, they haven’t actually announced what the other prizes are yet, so maybe the toilet paper is the better choice.
The only complaint I would have is if this is the scratchy kind of toilet paper/sandpaper. If it’s OK, then I wouldn’t complain. The contest is free anyway.
I am trying to keep up one streak — winning at least one decent bike-related item a year. I won’t win any races but I can win drawings. I think I’ve won something every year since I started cycling: gift certificate to a bike store, another gift certificate to a bike store, a non-GPS bike computer (which I ended up selling), cycling jackets, and a triathlon backpack this year. Nothing really expensive but nice to have. Could I consider a year’s supply of toilet paper bike-related? I’m not sure…

ParticipantI am amused to notice that I am currently #1 of 15 in Bethesda, even though I’m #40 of 119 on my team. Just one more confirmation that Bethesda is far from a haven for bicycling!
