You can sign up now! https://nationalbikechallenge.org You can use Mapmyride or Moves this year if you don’t like Endomondo.

    1) Do we want to try for win in the large team category or coast to easy victory in the mid-size?

I think we should go big or go home but it’s going to be hard to beast Gainesville.

    2) To that end should we name the team Washington Area All-Stars or something to that effect in order to be more inclusive and get more DC and Maryland riders onboard? Team name suggestions?

We need to recruit more riders if we want to have a chance. I’d like to keep it restricted to people who live within two hours from DC. Two hours by bike or course!

    3) Who wants to be captain?

It’s an easy job and I’d like to let someone else do it this year. I nominate DBB.

Kinda slow on the delivery from what I hear. It wouldn’t hurt to check with them. I didn’t get even get an email when our team won last year (medium size team). I had to contact them to arrange for the delivery of our award. Meanwhile, Jason O Mahoney captain of Gainesville Cycle Club (wining large size team) was invited to their K street office for photo op and presentation of a NBC jersey.

    Last day.

Kudos to all, especially your diamond folks. I’m going to miss Diamond by a pretty clear 800ish odd points. Bah. Although it’s on me as I did like almost 0 weekend riding this time around and didn’t ride at all when I was on work travel like i did in BAFSS. Also, congrats to all the prize winners.

Looks like our All Stars will place a solid third. However, as far as points per rider, we dominated the field. At 3188. Gainesville is at 2492. So I would deem us all still the winners. Plus we have hills.

me too! I wasn’t expecting too after having to take 3 weeks off due to illness and then moving, but I came in right under the wire. Maybe next year if I can get through the summer without a 3 week vertigo spell I’ll make diamond.

Of course, if they don’t actually send me the shorts, have I really won anything? I’m going to have to follow up on this tomorrow. I responded to their email and verified address info, but nothing has been delivered to my door.

It took a while for me to get my July pair. Have faith; it will come.
I got an email yesterday telling me that they did not have my size and would I take an inferior prize instead (inferior meaning they offered me Bronze and Silver prizes, even though the shorts were Gold). I suggested they offer me a jersey. We’ll see what they say.

I got an email yesterday, too! They said they were out of shorts in my size, but would I like some socks or a magnet? I think I’ll follow your strategy and ask for a jersey. I could really use another long-sleeve jersey.

September prizes are up, and it’s official: I didn’t win anything all season. There are several local winners, though.

I won a bike magnet! I think that’s one step up from a year’s supply of toilet paper.
