ParticipantI’m in as well. Definitely not easy to find how to join a team for me. I found Rod’s profile and joined his team through that! One positive about the site this year is that my syncing seems to be happening super fast this year. I put miles on Endomondo and they immediately sync to the NBC. Hopefully they’ll get some nice clear local leaderboards up soon, as those really motivated me last year!

I can’t join this team, because I’m already on another one, but I’ve definitely noticed the bugginess. The site regularly moves any miles ridden on a Sunday to the following Monday. It logs me out frequently and unpredictably in the midst of moving from one page to another on the site. It does not show who is on my own team, much less provide any breakdown of miles contributed. It requires numerous clicks to get from the front page to such basic things as the calendar showing how many miles I’ve ridden. On the profile page, the calendar shows that I have ridden only 1 day/1 mile, but if I click on the arrow to go back to the preceding month, it suddenly shows me that this month, I’ve ridden 13 days/258 miles. I’m really hoping they get this all fixed before the competition starts, or the competition isn’t going to be a lot of fun.
But now you have health care with dental.
Site dropped me twice. Will sign up when I am not on a tablet

Participantis tapirik not syncing endomondo anymore? If not, then I’m out. Toilet paper is not worth the hassle of uploading multiple times.

It is not … :-[ When Collin (the developer behind tapiriik.com) added the new “stationary activity” (i.e. trainer ride) support to the tool, the Endomondo plugin was disabled. I assume it is either because Endomondo doesn’t support FIT activity types through their API or some other shortcoming related to this functionality. I have not asked Collin about it — or volunteered to port it
On my plate is updating the RideWithGPS tapiriik plugin that I *did* write to support the new stationary activity API.
Likewise, I don’t plan to join if it requires separate upload.

@tapiriik hey. Thanks for the awesome service. I’ve seen old screenshots where you have endomodo sync. Did you drop that functionality? -

@OgreSwamp yeah, it’s coming back soon. As it has been since Nov 27th…

Still acting weird today, and the site generally is kind of a pain to navigate. I know we’re a month out from the official beginning of the challenge, but…
Is this nationalbikechallenge.org or healthcare.gov, amirite?!

ParticipantFitnessyncer will sync Garmin or Strava to MapMyFitness, which is one of the apps that works with the National Bike Challenge. Just be aware that it syncs only once a day. I set it to sync, and when it didn’t seem to work right away, uploaded all those rides to MapMyFitness–only to have them all duplicated after the first sync. Other than that, it has worked fine.

ParticipantCool. Thanks for that!
Oh what a tangled web of ride syncing I’ve woven between Tapiriik and now this. At least I won’t have to go the NBC site every day now.
Oh, and BTW, with all the stuff that seems to be buggy and not working on the site, integration of data from mapmyride.com is one thing that seems to be working just great.

ParticipantWell, I’m still having issues with its moving all my Sunday rides in MapMyFitness to Monday rides in National Bike Challenge. But other than that, it works.

ParticipantHmmm… odd. No such issues for me – rides synced from Strava to MMR, and MMR authorized in NBC. Hope it starts working properly for you…

ParticipantHey I’m going to start another thread for whining about the National Bike Challenge and this thread can be about winning it.
Washington Area All-Stars:
16 riders
259 points per rider
#82 nationallyTogether we’ve ridden 1 x USA Coast to Coast
Rod Smith:
2,484 points
#2 nationallyApril 3, 2014 at 1:28 pm #997591Terpfan
ParticipantIs it a limited number of slots? Because I don’t want to drag any team down. Otherwise I would consider joining. I downloaded map my ride again, which I used to use. Everytime I turn it on though now, it turns on my iphone’s camera light. I can’t figure out how or why.

ParticipantNo, there is no limit! Please join!

ParticipantLeaderboards are up! We’re number two!
Fears of ranking being based on points per rider were unfounded. Before the leaderboards were up, this appeared to be the case but that’s changed now. The rankings will be based on total points. This team did have the best points per rider ratio last year anyway but I was a little worried that riders who don’t ride all the time would be discouraged from joining if the rankings were figured that way. No worries, everyone is welcome, the more the merrier, ever rider will help us win. Every rider will help us win. Ride as much as you like, ride very much if you like or just a little. Sleaze Rides are worth 21+ points! Twice as sleazy as BAFS sleaze rides!
There will be NBC WAAS (Nat’l Bike Challenge Washington Area All-Stars) group rides and a big party after it’s over.
I’m going skiing tomorrow so I’ll only ride 30 miles (to and from the carpool meet-up in Falls Church, with a trailer full of ski gear) but I’ll do a long ride Sunday to make up for it.

We’re now number one! Of course, at this point, that’s like winning all the one game in the preseason of a sports league. But I just happened to see that and thought, “Sweet! We’re in first!”
