ParticipantHas anyone had luck fixing profile issues?
I signed up for the National Bike Challenge in April and finally found time to setup FitnessSyncer to synch miles between Strava and MapMyRide.
Like others, I have had problems with FitnessSyncer.
It looks like I received double miles in MapMyRide (i.e. each Strava ride was posted twice in MapMyRide). Before I deleted the extra rides in MapMyRide, the extra rides were exported to the National Bike Challenge. I could not find a way to delete the extra rides, so I manually logged -741 miles to negate the extra rides. My “May” monthly total now looks correct, but the overall mileage is still incorrect.
I contacted the site for help, but have not heard a response. Any other ideas?

It might take a little while for your correction to take effect?

ParticipantNo, I think you need to go to each day and subtract mileage rather than post a single ride of negative 741 miles. It take surprisingly little time to fix but yes it is a PITASS.

ParticipantThanks for the help Rod! I think I have it straightened out now.

ParticipantThe top placed guy for the month of June on NBC shows 539 miles ridden in 1 day. Next guy, 378 miles. I’m guessing they tried to put in the tenth of a mile and messed up. If not, I think everyone should quit and name them the best cyclists of all time.

ParticipantAlternatively, at least one of them may have put in miles from a bunch of days all at once, instead of putting it in for each day. The guy with 539 miles on June 1 shows no miles at all for May 25 through 31, even though he had bicycled at least 4 days a week in each of the prior weeks of May. If he missed the May 31 deadline for getting his May miles in, he may have decided to dump all the May miles into June to get some credit for them. Yeah, he shouldn’t have done that. However, the rules are a bit bizarre in providing no mechanism for crediting miles during a competition if they are ridden in one month, but not entered until the following month. And there is no grace period. For example, if a guy starts a ride just before midnight on May 31, and doesn’t end it until after midnight, the ride can’t be credited to either May or June.
That wouldn’t explain the guy with 378 miles, though. He allegedly also rode 263.9 miles back on May 18.

ParticipantSeveral people on the NBC Facebook page have mentioned glitches in syncing with MapMyRide or Endomondo. Others may be combining separate days into one day. Still others might be cheating, but since there isn’t a strong financial incentive to do so, I don’t think cheating is too widespread in the contest. (A cyclist doesn’t have to be superhuman to reach the Gold level for May and the Diamond level by the end of September. Once someone reaches those levels, there are no improved odds of winning prizes for posting more miles and days.)
I do hope that those people are not cheating.
If those people are combining miles from separate days, they are actually cheating themselves out of the daily bonus points. Instead of 20 pts. for each of those days, they only receive a single 20-pt. bonus. If this is what they are doing, it doesn’t bother me.

Oh come on. 22+ mph sustained for 24 hours is nothing. I do it all the time. I’m just too modest to share it on Strava.

ParticipantIf you lived near a mountain, you might be able to do that. Have someone drive you to the top (with GPS off, so you aren’t cheating!). Then race down the mountain side at 40-50 mph or faster, followed by the SUV. Or better yet, draft off of the SUV and have the SUV clear the way. At the bottom, get back into the SUV and drive up to the top again. Rinse and repeat. Again and again and again.
If you could find a really tall mountain, it might not even take the full 24 hrs. to finish the 539 miles.
