There are long streaks of small gravel on both sides of N Westmoreland St, and most of it is right in the part of the lane where cyclists would ride. The worst is from Fairfax Drive to N Williamsburg Blvd, although there are some patches north of there too. Not sure if this is a result of spillage from recently completed repaving but it’s quite a well-trafficked bike route.

It looks like sharrows and bike lane striping will be painted soon on the climb from Fairfax Drive to Williamsburg. I don’t think Fairfax will continue this past the county line.

You might not notice it on your bikes, but the sidewalks here are nuts–they’re only one side of the street, but switch back and forth every block. I often jog with my dogs from 31st and Westmoreland down to the W&OD and have to cross Westmoreland three times each way over 1/2 mile.

Explains why almost every walker/runner I pass through there is on the street. At least the parking lane is wide and generally empty, I guess…
