We hosting my 11-year-old nephew this week. So husband, toddler and nephew are out and about every day doing cool DC stuff. Generally they drive to my office with bikes on the car, park at my office (yay federal agency with kinda-free parking), then head out on bikes to explore the city. So every morning I have to drag myself into the office not only when I first bike to work, but also after they drop off the car, and a third time when they head home for toddler’s nap. Brutal. Plus, toddler keeps asking for me to come with on their excursions. This morning: “Mommy come to Roosevelt Island? No mommy go to work?” If only…

Hey, I still can’t ride due to broken thumb but if someone wants to haul my arse back and forth in a Burley trailer I’m game! Think of it as high intensity interval training.

Hope y’all taking advantage of the beautiful weather. I’ll wave to you from metro with my nose pressed against the glass….

During my lunchtime ride, the anomoly was very strong and seemed to be pulling directly away from my office.

I predict this mysterious phenomenon will be very strong tomorrow, particularly in the area of 17th & G St NW, and even stronger next week when I have to go in to work 90 minutes earlier than usual. :p

Allegedly at 7:30, although most people start rolling in around 8, which is when I SHOULD roll out, but somehow never do… :D

I may have discovered the source of the gravitational anomaly. Some guy was playing the bagpipes on a hotel balcony this evening, tucked away in between two buildings so no one could see him unless they were almost directly in front of him. But the bagpipes were audible at least a block away. He may have caused a disturbance in the Force. Or something like that.

I don’t know what he was aiming for. It wasn’t part of any celebration, festival, gathering or anything else. Just him standing on a hidden balcony, completely in the dark, playing bagpipes that everyone could hear in the immediate area. No flags or protest signs either. Was there a Scottish holiday today?
