    Hi everyone,

I feel like its time to step out of the shadows, since I’ve been lurking for several months now. I’m Ian.

I live in Alexandria, and try to get out and ride a few days a week. Most of my time on the bike is commuting to work. I work at the NIH in Bethesda. It’s nice to be able to skip metro and ride up and back. On the weekends I like to get out a little longer. Usually I hop on the W&OD and ride out to Herndon. I like stopping at the Green Lizard for a coffee.

This is my first taste of cold weather riding and I’m still adjusting to it. So….the fact that I stole a pair of my wife’s pantyhose (control top, thankfully) and wore them under my tights today should not be a big issue (or the sandwich bags in my cycling shoes either). They actually made a pretty big difference.

I like the group here, as you all seem to get along well, and are generally friendly and helpful (which is not always the case at bikeforums.net). I’m comfortable in my Fred-ness though, and don’t mind the occasional good natured busting on. I hope to see you guys out and about someday. I’ll post a picture of my bike, maybe you’ll see me around. it’s certainly celeste enough to stand out.

I also have a friend that is here too. I think it’s PeteD. I’m married to a cousin of his I believe! I’ve met him before in Delaware a few years ago. Super guy!

Bob is my uncle. As a kid, I was always super confused by this phrase.

As an uncle who is a Bob, I hope to confuse my nieces and nephew with this! I’ve already said it a few times to them.
