My evening commute

Riding thru the falling snow was moderately amusing last night until I realized how well it masked the potholes. That robbed the experience of all it’s entertainment value. I don’t mind much riding in the cold and I’ll ride in the rain if needs be but riding in the cold rain I draw the line at. This wet sloppy snow was a pretty close match to rain by the time my jeans were soaked. :rolleyes:

I think I hit every pot hole in Old Town last night. But I didn’t have the wet pants experience. Instead, I was evidently cold enough that the snow was sticking to my legs. It was kind of comical. The only big downside to the ride yesterday aside from being wet and cold was the extra time it took getting home and that I turned off into a construction zone thinking it was a sidewalk, instead finding myself slushing through 2″ of mud, joy joy.

Lots of people riding tonight. I saw eminva. I saw GB being a scofflaw and then saying to me, “that didn’t happen.” (Sure it didn’t, buddy.) I also saw a traffic-congestion-induced spill: guy on his Cervelo got caught at the end of some stopping-short, and went down. Three of us stopped to talk to him, and not only did he seem fine, but he was amazingly gracious about the whole thing. One righteous dude, that guy. I also went through the drive-thru ATM, which is always fun on a bike. Plus gorgeous weather. All in all, very memorable. Makes me glad to be a cyclist.

Good and wet. I stopped under Eisenhower on the Holmes Run Trail to eat my last PBJ and watch the rain get heavier. Very relaxing…until I hit Clermont. Oh granny gears get me home! Good day.
