    hahaha! Classic!

    it was a good laugh.

I just signed up for Strava, and it suggested that I set a “privacy” radius from my house to the nearest major intersection so that I do not display where my house is to the internet at large.

Yeah, set the privacy radius starting from someplace other than your actual home address (e.g. set if from the nearby intersection). If the center of the circle is your actual house, it would be trivial to find the center of the circle by looking at where your track starts (especially if you exit your circle in more than one location). I’ve been meaning to write this proof-of-concept application but am a little concerned it would be used for evil not good (the “good” being to convince Strava to make the privacy zones more complex/irregular/etc.).

I always figured that if someone wanted to know where I lived, they could always look it up in the phone book.

I had no idea people still used those, but that certainly must be true. :-)

Combined with pseudonyms you could use Strava with some anonymity, but I threw in the towel there long ago. There are way too many intersecting data points (for me, anyway).

Nice. I tracked myself mowing the lawn earlier this year, but the activity is flagged private. It took me about 90 mins :(

Or if you own a house, the county tax records.

Certainly every mortgage company that wants me to refinance seems to be able to find me just fine. ;)

From your track it looks like you were mowing drunk and or blindfolded. That work is not going to cut it if you want to work grounds crew at Nats park.
And did you mow through the corner of your house? Taking care of the shag carpeting while you were at it. ;)

Still a very small scale map. What did it take to denote the radius of privacy?

Actually, if you look at the route from a certain angle, it kind of looks like “Abe” of the Racing Presidents. That skill would come in very handy at Nats Park.

If you reduce your tires from plastic 84mm to 23mm Ksyriums, and push your heart rate to
zone 4 with 1 minute alternating intervals, I think you could get it down to 73 minutes this spring. And that bag, who needs that extra 2,732 grams? Lose it. It is all about goal setting. Rule #5 for that lawn next year!!!!
