ParticipantThe only regular one I know of is Potomac Pedalers morning ride from Glen Echo.

ParticipantDoes commuting on the Custis count as a group ride?

ParticipantI think most of the competitive clubs keep Monday as a rest day since they do their racing over the weekend.

ParticipantMondays are conspicuously blank on the group rides calendar. It’s actually one of the most convenient days for me. Would love to find out if anyone is riding. Lately I’ve just been doing HP laps on Monday evenings.

ParticipantI believe the racers call it a “rest day”. As the wife of a racer, I call it “a night to cuddle on the couch”.

ParticipantMaybe we should start a BikeArlington Monday night group ride.

ParticipantI propose a group ride from my office to the FroYo in Shirlington after work!
Sorta the diff between racers and commuters: Monday is the first day of biking for commuters and the weekends are the days “off.”

Oh, I like that idea! There is also a froyo place close to the Crystal City MVT entrance.

ParticipantNo, we need to go someplace with cones. It’s too hard to ride with a cup and a spoon.

ParticipantThanks fellas for the advice. Any ride that ends with FroYo is a good ride. Forgot that many groups consider Monday a rest day. Horrible to say but Fridays mine so i can do the big push on the weekends and I am usually doing something Friday night.
The Glen Echo looks good, but it is a tad off on the timing. I’ll try the Haynes point.

ParticipantA Hains/FroYo combo for Mondays?
Maybe a good Monday ride could be a few loops at Hains Point (people could meet up there from their respective workplaces and join the group during a broad time range) followed by Yogiberry in Shirlington. It could be social loops for some, interval training for others, and we wouldn’t be bothering the clubs that day.
I’d offer to try that out this coming Monday, but I have bone graft surgery this Friday and will be out of commission for awhile. Then have a business trip to Kansas City for a week in early August.
Would anyone be interested in that if we made it a weekly or monthly get-together?

ParticipantI am having a rest day today. I do not like this rest day. Want to be on bike!
Right knee’s a bit twingey though so I’m trying to be sensible. Best schedule that fitting.
Grumble grumble grumble…
Oh well, when I get home Amazon will have brought all kinds of toys for my bike. Fenders and brake pads and cyclocomputers o my!

How does it help to have a cone and spoon?

Proper eye protection is clearly going to be necessary for this ride.

Participant2ยข – You could go to Good Stuff Eatery in Crystal City and get milkshakes that fit nicely into bottle cages.
