Also, I predict a marked increase in the amount of single shoes found on Clarendon Boulevard on Sunday mornings.

    You mean flip flops.

    Madras flip flops…

I want to see it in Shirlington. There will be a group that gets wasted enough to try Heartbreak Hill (to continue the party in Clarendon), which will be hilarious.

(Un)fortunately there’s a backup/assist motor on the trolley, it seems. Good for safety (I was wondering how they’d clear some intersections, late in the evening), but bad for our personal amusement.

I’m curious to see where (how wide of an area) this would operate, although my inital guess would be Clarendon. Who knows, maybe a group will start at Shirlington and go up Heartbreak Hill (Walter Reed Dr from 4MR)!

The beer trolley looks like it’d be nice for enjoying a few drinks, but I would not want anyone getting wasted (which does not appeal to me in the slightest) on something like that.

Could add a new meaning for the “Arlington Loop(ed)” Wonder what it would cost to rent for the Air Force Classic?

What I want to find out is who would win in a race: The fully-loaded Trolley Pub or the BikeArlington crew on tricycles and a side cab (attached to the tricycles)? Inquiring minds want to know!

Is there drinking on the tricycles?

FYI–future costume possibilities include Scooby-Doo and Star Wars.

Am I the only one who thinks this is just like getting trapped on one of those party barges on the Potomac? Actually worse because I’d have to pedal. The beauty of having a bike is being able to ride away when either the company gets old or the beer gets warm.

But we should be able to pedal to a local establishment to get some cold beer! Not sure there are stores that sell fresh company however.

    More deep thoughts:

    – If BikeArlington goes Star Wars, are you going to consult all the team members in advance? I mean, a Wookiee suit is going to be awfully hot in your tricycle race in the middle of July. Or what about the Princess Leia costume… er, well, you know.

    – People probably won’t go from Shirlington to Clarendon. But I bet some group will try to go from Clarendon to Shirlington, zooming down Walter Reed Drive. Are there brakes on the Trolley Pub? Like heavy duty brakes? Or tailhooks?

    – “Beg the question” should be officially retired because no one knows what it means anyway. (OK, some philosophy majors do. But that’s it. I know the new “common” definition is incorrect, but I have to look up the official meaning again, every time I come across the phrase. Then I forget it again before the next time I read it.) Or the new meaning could be accepted, sort of like how “decimate” has changed in meaning over time. I used to be more of a stickler about these things, but lately I don’t seem to mind as much.

    – The Trolley Pub can be used for fresh company. You can get beer and new company at the same time! Just exchange the current crew with the occupants of any local establishment in Arlington. No guarantees, however, that the new group will be any more entertaining and enjoyable than the previous group. I’m thinking that you may not want to swap with Mister Days or Clarendon Ballroom.

    – Is there a secret compartment inside the Trolley Pub, staffed by elves who are ready for chain, pedal and gear repairs at the drop of a hat? Or the ding of a bell?

    – Will there be a D.C.-Arlington Olympics at Hains Point, including not just the Trolley Pub and the BikeArlington Tri(cycle) Brigade but also hordes of pedicabs and their drivers? To even the odds, the pedicabs could be loaded down with oversized trucks selling “You Didn’t See Me” T-shirts. I think there should also be a Capital Bikeshare faction (even though there isn’t a separate Capital Bikeshare organization outside of BikeArlington, DDOT and the other local organizations). The CaBi group would have to tow bollards.

I think “beg the question” should be banned because it should be banned.

According to a preliminary review, the Trolley Pub is deemed to be legal on the streets of Arlington:

There will probably be a more thorough review, but at least they aren’t trying to hide this from the police. It would be kind of hard to keep something like this undercover anyway.
