I witnessed a Mixed Cat 6 this evening. I won’t go telling tales out of school, but it looked like the female cyclist was getting the better of the male cyclist.
(Nowhere near the 14th Street Bridge or MVT, so present company excepted, of course).
I don’t mind being honest, Ann and Liz, she earned that drink!
And, with a nod to PotomacCyclist’s safety concerns about riding fast on the MVT, our passes were safe (easing up where appropriate, giving warning, etc).
Over the past four years I occasionally get my mixed Cat 6 somewhere between the 14th St Bridge on the MVT and the Carlin Springs underpass on the W&OD with a young lady, another year round commuter. If I’m on my road bike I can just about keep up with her. If I’m on my hybrid she’ll slow down for a little while and exchange pleasantries, but will usually drop me fairly quickly. Too bad she and her husband are transferring out of the area this summer, I’ll miss the challenge.
