Today, I met John and Paul at the Opening Happy Hour. We decided to join Steve’s MLK Day Pancakes ride on Monday, Jan 16. John, Paul, and I will meet in front of the library in Shirlington at 7:30 AM. Then we ride to Lazy Mike’s at 7049 Leesburg Pike in Falls Church. After breakfast, we will ride home.

Hi Team 18. My name is Cathy. I am sorry I could not be at the Happy Hour this evening. I am looking forward to meeting and (hopefully) riding with everyone. This is my 8th year participating in Freezing Saddles. I live in Fairfax, about 3 miles west of George Mason University. From home I generally ride south towards Occoquan and north towards Reston/Herndon. I ride with a number of different groups so you will see my rides all over the DMV.

At this moment I don’t have any team name ideas but will give it some thought. I hope to meet you soon.

Hi……I’m Jan Johnson. I live in Springfield. This is my first time doing Freezing Saddles and I am very excited about it.
I only know a couple of people on the entire FS roster but have friends who have done it in the past. They are all excited for me being able to participate. (Nadine Beck inspired me to join up this year.) Mostly, I ride with friends or solo.

Hi everyone – My name is Carlos. I’ve been participating in Freezing Saddles since 2017. I took last year off due to the birth of my son and a severe lack of free time. I’m back this year and looking to build up my mileage again. I don’t have an opinion on team name. Happy to go with the flow.

Hi Jan. Welcome to Freezing Saddles. This is my third year of participation, and I’ve enjoyed it every year. As you see from Cathy’s post, she is doing it for the eighth time. So, I hope you will enjoy it too, and I look forward to riding with you and our teammates. Are you coming for our ride on Monday, Jan 16?

Okay. So far, we have two suggestions. I say two because I was not serious about my suggestion. I just said that to start a discussion: So, the two suggestions are:

• Team mukluks
• Icy Pedals

Hi everyone, I’m Paul and this is my first year. I’m looking forward to doing more commuting and hopefully getting my numbers up.

I’m for team mukluks. Anything that makes me think of warm feet is going to be a plus.

Joining the Freezing Saddles is definitely a way to get your mile numbers up, Paul. I am happy to have two (?) first-timers on our team.

If no one replies, I will ride to Rock Creek Park to do Ross Hill Loop. In that case, you are welcome to join me on my way to and from Ross Hill.
